DIGITALISATION

Everyone is currently talking about Industry 4.0 and AI. Based on a scientific study by Frey and Osborne (2013) on the ‘Probability of digitalisation and robotisation of the American labour market’, this was applied to the Federal Republic of Germany via IngDiBa using the employment statistics of the Federal Employment Agency according to the classification of occupations (KldB) of the German labour market.

The results are as dramatic as they are alarming: of the 30.9 million employees subject to social security contributions and marginally employed persons included in this study, 18.3 million jobs (or 59%) are threatened in their current form by the advancing digitalisation in Germany.

We are currently unable to assess the extent to which this trend will actually materialise. However, we support companies in ‘finding their digital strategy for the future’ and digital companies in marketing their products.
